Position Summary: Provide quality care for school-age youth during the school year and full-day child care on early dismissal days, no school days, school holidays/breaks, and full-day during the summer months.
Qualification, Certifications and Experience
- Must be at least 16 years old
- High School diploma or equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school
- Equivalent of a minimum of one year successful experience working with children preferred
Background check, including fingerprinting, and physical exam required post offer
Certifications Obtainable upon Employment
- Trainings required by the Johnston Community School District
- Trainings required by DHS license requirements
- Trainings required by Community Education
Cost of certifications and time spent on the certifications covered by the employer
Performance Criteria
Professional
- Monitor and execute behavior guidelines to create positive, supportive and consistent environment
- Relate and interact with children using positive reinforcement and effective communication
- Assist On-Site Coordinator in planning recreational and educational activities
- Prepare and implement daily activities in coordination with On-Site Coordinator
- Knowledge of and interest in a variety of areas such as sports, music, arts, games, computers, etc.
- Complete daily children's attendance using KTC ipads
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, orderly and safe environment
- Assist On-Site Coordinator in creating a pleasing environment
- Help set up and put away tables and equipment
- Assist in preparation of program/art materials
- Report maintenance/custodial problems to On-Site Coordinator
- Cleanup buildings and supplies as assigned
- Leadership skills in directing children's activities
- Greet children and parents as they arrive
- Communicate children's behavior concerns with On-Site Coordinator
- Attend staff and in-service training meetings as required
- Maintain confidentiality of children's records
- Accurately use time clock and attendance management program
- Remain knowledgeable about program policies and procedures
- Understand and implement information on children's enrollment records
- Provide supervision of participants
- Must be available at least 4 shifts
- Must be available during extended hours on early dismissal, late starts and holiday break, spring break, scheduled no school days and summer hours between the hours of 6:30 am and 6:00 pm

- Work location will be assigned as needed
- Work days/hours may vary depending upon program needs
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or higher level leadership

- 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. on school days
- 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on school days
